The real issue is of course ...Very handy overview.<br /><br />The real issue is of course that there are ways in which the way the EU functions can be improved - increased transparency in informal negotiations between the European Parliament and the Member States, a compulsory lobbyists register, more "citizen friendly" summaries of EU policy that don't overflow with jargon.<br /><br />The mindless EU-bashing of the Express, the Mail & the Telegraph is poisoning the public debate on the issue of European integration in this country, because none of those papers has the intellectual wherewithal (or political correspondents) to initiate any proper discussion on what our relationship with the rest of this continent should be.
