Another 3,000 readers desert the Express

The latest ABCs show the Express' circulation has fallen once again.

The January figure of 674,640 was down 0.46% on December and down 8.6% year on year.

In circulation terms, that's a loss of 10,555 over the last two months.

And that brings the tally of total sales lost since Peter Hill became Editor to 176,559. Per day.

Clumsy.

  1. I can't understand your figures... from the numbers above I make it out that he's lost around 174 per day using the year-on-year figure, so 10,555 per day for the last two months seems very high.... can you either enlighten me on how I've got this wrong, or check your figures.... thanks, and love the website....!

  2. I think it's my fault for a slightly ambiguous phrase - now corrected.

I meant the Express now sells 10,555 fewer copies per day compared with November, not that it has lost 10,555 every day.

Circulation in the ABCs for Nov 2009 was 685,195.

Today, the ABCs for Jan 2010 show circulation at 674,640.
