5CC reviews Littlejohn

Five Chinese Crackers is a brave soul - he's just read Richard Littlejohn's 'novel' To Hell in a Handcart.

But it was worth it as he's written an excellent deconstruction of the book, which comes in not one, not two, but three parts (plus an intro).

  1. Thank you for this. I seem to have generated a lot of interest with this review, which was unexpected.

I may start looking at other right wing blowhard novels. I draw the line at Ayn Rand though.

  2. If it's real car crash reading you want try Alan Brazil's "Both Barrels from Brazil - My War against the Numpties".

I know of three people who bought it on the grounds that 'he was a legend at Ipswich Town wunnee?'.

None of theme has read more than 36 pages of it.

  3. Great review - thoroughly enjoyed it. Now we are in the second age of Thatcher and under the thumb of Pope Cameron I couldn't help but recall the phrase "oxygen of publicity" and wondered if all these right wing nutters should be paid so much attention. In my dreams, I would love to see Mr. Obama go on national TV and say something like "My fellow Americans, Fox News is utter drivel and I despise it and all who create it and believe its lies. Let them do their worst (which only making a loud whining noise after all) while the rest of us get on with trying to get the country back on its feet." I am sure he would be made President for Life. Whover leads the Labours next should do something similar to the Daily Mail....

  4. Roosevelt sort of did this: "So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."
