We reported on Saturday that Wayne Rooney was spending £10,000 on under floor heating for luxury dog kennels at his Cheshire home.
In fact, there are no dog kennels at his home and thus no under floor heating has been installed. We apologise for the mistake.

An easy mistake to make, surely?

Due to the fact I'm a student, who will pretty much watch anything on TV, I came across this story on music channel VIVA as part of its news bulletin. I've seen that bulletin several times now - it's yet to be corrected. I guess when it's ludicrous stories that really nobody cares about, they think they can get away with reporting it as fact.
ReplyDeletePress Not Sorry has a very good point about how these mistakes happen - it's citizen journalism gone a bit too awry, with people desperate to earn some cash.
Starsuckers having a laugh again...
ReplyDeleteA "mistake" would have been The Sun saying he had three dogs when he only has two, or that they're rotweillers when in fact they're dobermans. This wasn't a mistake, it was a lie. The apology should say: "In fact, there are no dog kennels at his home and thus no under floor heating has been installed. We apologise for once again lying to our readers by printing made-up rubbish we're too lazy to check."
